2024 has gone, and 2025 is now here. It’s the beginning of a new year, and anticipation and curiosity is high. What will the new year bring? Will it go the same as the previous years, and bring challenge and hardship, or will it be a blessed year, full of happiness and wonderful surprises?

Did you know that you possess the ability to steer your new year in the right direction? Did you know it is possible to get information early on as to what to expect, and how to navigate your year? Jeremiah 33:3 says we can ask God and receive inside information – “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come,” (NLT). It is also said of Him, in Amos 9:7, “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.” As children of God, we have a right to approach our Father and ask Him questions about our lives, what is to come, and how to navigate our future. For example, every year I ask the Lord to give me a word regarding the next year. Last year, He gave me the word “rest.” I was at the tail end of two years filled with major warfare, and my anxiety levels were astronomical. The enemy was fighting me at every turn, and I began to feel weak physically and spiritually. Come the new year, things started to settle. Yes, I still had to deal with some warfare every so often, but it was not one giant onslaught. Those who had been coming against me were no longer in the picture, the malicious attacks had stopped, and I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. God had given me rest, just as He said He would.

It is also possible to direct our future with words that we speak, and prayers that we pray. By speaking negatively about our new year, we set the course for negative things to happen – we activate curses and send demons on assignment to manifest the very things we don’t want to happen. Conversely, by speaking positive, and speaking the Word of God over our lives, and over our new year, it sets the course for a year filled with blessing and breakthrough, and it releases heaven on earth. When I get a word from God on the upcoming year, I begin to pray about it and speak it into existence. When I come up against a situation, or have to make a decision about something, I have that word to help me; I’m not left in a state of confusion as to what’s happening, or which direction to go.

Speaking over your family will also set the course for them as well and break any attacks that have been set up against them. Craft a prayer from the Word of God that speaks blessing over your children, over your grandchildren, etc. and release it over them at the start of the new year. What does God say about them? What direction does He want them to go? Is there a scripture He wants them to hold onto this year? The Word of God does not return to Him empty, but it accomplishes what it sets out to do (Isaiah 55:11).

As we enter into this new year, I’d like to encourage you to actively seek God and ask Him for a word, not only for yourself, but also for your children. I have included the prayer I am praying over my family this year. Feel free to use it and make it your own. God bless you and your family this new year. May you all come to the knowledge of the truth and may your relationship with our Lord and Savior deepen.

A Prayer for the New Year –

Father God,

We come before you, thanking you for 2024 and all that you have accomplished in us and through us. We thank you for providing everything we need that pertains to life and Godliness. Thank you for keeping our heads above the waves and delivering us from all evil. Thank you for fighting our battles and for giving us the victory. You have increased our understanding of how to war in the Spirit, so that we will not be taken out by the enemy, and for that we also thank you. Thank you for the changes you’ve made to our character this year, making it possible to shine brighter, and to represent Christ better, in this dark world. You have been faithful, and just, working everything out for our good.

Now we bring the year, 2025, to you, and ask you to take control of our year. We want what you want, and we thank you for not leaving us to our own devices, because without you, we would ultimately fail. Reveal your will to us for this new year and help us to walk with you and not struggle or fight against you. We bind ourselves to you, and to your perfect will, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, we also ask that in this new year, you will enable us to release our baggage, and bad attitudes, and everything else we’ve been holding onto, that we need to let go of. We let go of bitterness and offense, pride and rebellion. We repent of those things, and we choose to leave them behind and walk in your spirit.

Enable us to put our lives in proper order that we will not have anything sitting in your place. Let every idol in our lives be recognized and removed.

Orchestrate our lives, make our paths straight, level, and smooth. Remove any obstacles and dangers along the way and may the angels of the Lord be encamped round about us, protecting us from the evil one. Help us to not be deceived, and let any deception in our lives be replaced with truth.

We cancel every plot and plan of the enemy that has been formed against our family, and we cancel every assassination attempt. We speak abundant life over our families, and declare that everything the enemy has destroyed, and brought death to, in our lives, must now come back to life. We release resurrection power over our lives, over our families.

Enable us to walk forward into the new year with Godly attitudes, and Godly motives. Purify our motives, Lord. Enable us to make wise decisions that are according to your word and will. We release wisdom and understanding over our children, over our families, by the power and authority give to us through Christ Jesus.

We declare we are not wasteful, we are not greedy, we do not lust over the things of this world. We declare that when we pray, we pray the will of God into existence, and we do not pray according to the flesh. We manifest heaven on earth.

We decree and declare we walk in this new year unoffended, and that we are an unoffendable people. We declare we catch the enemy in all his lies. We are not caught off guard, nor will we be sidelined. Father, enable us to use proper discernment and help us discern whether it’s the enemy speaking, or you. We declare we are your sheep, and another’s voice we refuse to follow. Enable us to discern when there is a wolf hidden in sheep’s clothing, that we may not be led astray and devoured.

Position us in the right place, at the right time; keep us on the path of righteousness and keep our footing stable and firm. Keep us from distractions, and help us to not go to the right, nor to the left. We declare that on the solid rock of Jesus Christ we stand, for all other ground is sinking sand.

We release the blessings of the Lord that makes us rich, over our families. We choose to walk through the door of blessing – the door who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and we declare all is well with us in this new year, in Jesus’s Name.
