God shows me things in interesting and unique ways at times. Today is no different as He began speaking to me using an image from the movie, “The Matrix.” If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll no doubt recall the black Matrix background, with bright green numbers, flowing in a steady, downward stream. I’m going to attempt to relay what He has shown me, but I’m going to do it in more of a story form. Here we go.

In the beginning was the Matrix. It was a complex system created and put into place by the Almighty Creator – God. The Creator God was, and still is, self-sufficient, all-knowing, omnipresent, and has existed before the beginning of time. In fact, He has no beginning and no end. Infinite wisdom and unparalleled creativity mark Him. Time was non-existent until He created it. The earth was without form and void until He spoke. It was He who gathered the waters together and set their boundaries into place, and it was He who ordered the sun to shine. Everything was given order and boundaries, and the Matrix flowed seamlessly, like a well-oiled machine. It was all systems go.
Creator God began introducing new files into the system. He began by forming a file called Adam, and from Adam, He produced a new file called Eve. In the Matrix, every need was met. Food was in abundance, murder and death was not a thing, and things flowed according to the way Creator God intended them to.
One day, there was a glitch introduced into the Matrix. One of the system files began displaying characteristics of corruption and decided it wanted to take over the whole entire system. At first glance, one would be tempted to say it was a minor glitch that could be removed without any permanent damage, but that was not the case. It was a glitch with the capability to reproduce itself and its characteristics at an incredible rate. Death and murder were introduced as files were wiped clean out of the system. Other files began acting inappropriately as perversion swept across the board. The system’s memory began to struggle as it’s files became corrupted, and it soon forgot how it was created to function.
Creator God observed His Matrix, which had taken on a devastating, putrid, and abhorrent form. Grief filled Him, but His love for His creation overpowered it, and He began a process of restoring the Matrix to its former glory.

Restoring the Matrix required a reboot of the system. Creator God began by wiping out all the corrupted files except for one – a file called Noah. Within Noah were other files, and being part of Noah’s file spared them as well. A system reboot didn’t fix things, however. Some files are hidden, and some are permanent and can only be deleted or changed by the Creator. Attempting to access some files without the proper authority results in a denial of access. Sometimes the corruption can be so ingrained within the system that it’s necessary to wipe out the whole thing and install a new operating system.
Knowing that a new system was in order, and understanding the rules of authority, Creator God knew that the only was He could restore the Matrix was to inject Himself fully into it, acting as an anti-virus. Sin was about to be erased.

Creator God came, installing Himself as a file named Jesus. Jesus looked like the other files, but He was an incorruptible file. Sin thought he had the upper hand and could delete Jesus, but Jesus was incapable of being deleted. Jesus contained everything needed to bring restoration, including a new system called the New Covenant. As He touched and interacted with the files Creator God showed Him, their way of operating was restored. Instead of living in a state of corruption, perversion, and decay for all eternity, they were made completely new, just as if sin had never infected them. Through the New Covenant, love, forgiveness, mercy, and hope were installed, and when the other files saw that it was good, and that it was possible to be restored back to the way they were originally created to be, they desired to be restored as well. It was through Jesus that they found wholeness and could once again function, and flow, in a proper order.
This magnificent reversal is still taking place today, and just as sin had spread like wildfire, corrupting and destroying, the news of Jesus and the New Covenant are going forward, bringing life and renewal to each individual file that will accept Him. Not all files will be restored – some have been so corrupted that they refuse to be changed, and it’s those files which will be completely deleted. Files that choose to be restored and made completely new, and that choose to stand their ground and not conform once again to the corrupted system, get to be part of an upgraded Matrix system called the Kingdom of Heaven, and they will be in operation forever, without fear of ever being uninstalled.

Now this story may seem strange to some, but others will understand it completely. I have written this as somewhat of an analogy between a computer system and the salvation brought to us through Jesus Christ. If you have understood this, know that you too can be made completely new, and live life eternally. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, or how deep the sin goes; Jesus wants to give you a new life and a fresh start. He will never force Himself on you, so it’s up to you to allow Him to remake you and place you back into relationship with Creator God. If you’d like to do so, simply pray this prayer out loud:
Jesus,
I am sorry I have gotten out of alignment with your perfect plan for my life. I have tried doing things my own way, and I’m ready to choose you and your way. Forgive me of all my sins, wash me clean, and make me a new creation in you. I acknowledge that you came to this earth in human form, died on the cross and rose again from the dead, so that I can be forgiven and live life eternally with you. I give my life and my heart to you Jesus. Enable me to walk in all your ways.
Amen.
